2008-09 NCEBC Program Initiatives

NCEBC’s national agenda is to increase the academic performance of black males in public schools. Using our National Blueprint for Action and the Schott Foundation Report, The 2006 State Report Card on Public Education and Black Male Students, our focus is to help improve the following:

  • Low graduation rates,
  • Poor academics,
  • Disproportionality in special education placements,
  • High rates of suspensions and expulsion, and
  • Recruitment and retention of black male teachers in elementary schools.
